Auto Accident Injuries

Auto Accident Injury Treatment from our Summerlin Chiropractor

A car accident can cause all kinds of musculoskeletal and neurological havoc to your body, from the neck immobility and upper extremity symptoms of a whiplash injury to the agonizing lumbar pain and sciatica of a lower back injury. Even if you're not experiencing these miseries right after your accident, you need to get evaluated and possibly treated. Red Rock Chiropractic can provide that auto accident injury treatment using safe, non-surgical approaches.

Auto Accident

How a Car Accident Can Wreck Your Body

A car accident wrecks more than your vehicle. The forces transferred to your body from a car or truck on impact can be devastating in the effects, even if your speedometer was only reading 5 miles per hour at the moment of collision. Some of the injuries people commonly experience in auto accidents include:

  • Whiplash - Whiplash gets its name from the whip-like head motion that occurs when your body is suddenly stopped but your head goes flying and bouncing. The force of this motion can distort your cervical vertebral alignment even to the point of altering the curve of your neck, dislodging joints, tearing muscles and herniated discs at the same time.
  • Back pain - Your chest may be held by a safety restraint only on one side, allowing the opposite side to move freely. In a car accident, this can cause severe twisting of the thoracic and lumbar spine. The resulting soft tissue strain and vertebral subluxation can cause severe back pain.

Following a car accident, what you don't know may hurt you -- literally. You can't assume that you're injured just because you're not in pain, due to the fact that adrenalin flow and other shock-based responses can mute and delay symptom onset, allowing you to keep using (and damaging) the injured area.

Whiplash Treatment, Lower Back Pain Treatment and More

Our Summerlin chiropractor, Dr. Maggie Colucci, can examine your spine to confirm the presence or absence of a possible car accident injury. If your injury is all too evident, we can administer soothing whiplash treatment and lower back pain treatment right away to help you feel better without drugs. Dr. Colucci can use various chiropractic therapies, including the Diversified Technique and Activator Method, to adjust the vertebrae back into their proper positions. Flexion distraction is another useful technique for dealing with herniated discs.

Is your spinal misalignment accompanied by soft tissue damage? If so, Red Rock Chiropractic can help in that department, too. Laser therapy, massage therapy and physiotherapy can all work together to reduce swelling and inflammation, relieve pain and promote healing. Our holistic approach combines these multiple healing modalities into a powerful, personalized accident recovery program.
